BMW windscreen replacement
On a BMW the windscreen is more than glass; it carries cameras, sensors and display systems. Many versions of the 3 Series G20, 5 Series G30/G60, X1 U11, X3 G01 and 1 Series F40 have a driver-assist camera on the windscreen, and the F30 has one depending on equipment.
Premium equipment
- Head-up display (HUD): HUD cars need special wedge-angle glass; standard glass creates a double image.
- Acoustic glass, solar-control glass and rain/light/humidity sensors vary by trim.
- After replacement the camera is calibrated and sensors are coded.
Original or equivalent?
Because HUD and camera fit are critical on BMWs, glass is chosen by VIN. Depending on your policy, original or approved equivalent glass can be fitted, and a calibration report is provided either way.
