The project story
Need
The homeowner had removed the bathtub during a renovation and created a shower area flush with the floor. Off-the-shelf enclosures did not fit because of small angle differences in the walls. They wanted a simple, easy-to-clean solution with minimal framing.
Solution
Once tiling was finished we measured the walls with a laser and reflected the angle differences in the glass cutting dimensions. An 8 mm clear tempered glass shower enclosure consisting of one fixed panel and one hinged door was produced. An easy-clean coating that reduces water marks was applied, with stainless steel hinges and handles. A clear seal at the bottom of the door prevents splashing, and a stabiliser bar was fitted on top of the fixed panel. Installation took about three hours; the shower was not to be used for 24 hours while the silicone cured.
Process
When choosing glass and fittings, resistance to hard water was the priority. Handles and hinges were brushed stainless steel to match the other bathroom fixtures.
Result
With its frameless look the bathroom feels more spacious. Thanks to made-to-measure production there is no gap between glass and wall; the owner was left a short care note for the coated glass.
