The project story
Need
A car rental company had noticed that small chips going unnoticed between rentals quickly became cracks, sending vehicles to the workshop unexpectedly. Every windscreen replacement meant a car could not be rented for several hours.
Solution
Together with the company we set up a simple process: at vehicle return the check-in staff inspect the windscreen and, if they see a chip, send us a photo and the plate number. Our team visits the parking area in Kurtköy two days a week to carry out chip repair on reported vehicles. Cracks beyond the repair limit are scheduled for windscreen replacement at times when the car is idle. On camera-equipped models a calibration check follows the replacement. Every job is tracked in a plate-by-plate sheet.
Process
At the start of the programme the check-in staff were briefly trained on which chips can be repaired. A coin is placed next to the chip in report photos so its size can be judged easily.
Result
Chips are now dealt with before they spread, and windscreen replacements happen on schedule rather than unplanned. The company reported fewer vehicles unexpectedly taken out of rental because of glass; the programme continues.
